I’m Nicole Horn.
I’m running to be Georgia’s next Labor Commissioner.
Why I’m Running
Georgian’s deserve a Labor Commissioner with vision and leadership.
Georgia’s Department of Labor is responsible for providing a safety net through unemployment benefits. During the pandemic, Georgians waited far too long and fought far too hard to receive those benefits.
I will ensure the safety net works and unemployment benefits are paid quickly. And I will work with businesses to grow workforce talent and mitigate layoffs.
Strengthening Georgia
We must do more to strengthen how the Labor Department works in Georgia.
- Improve outdated technologies to better track unemployment fraud, while ensuring qualified individuals quickly receive benefits.
- Introduce more flexible unemployment benefits so companies can retain workers if they need to reduce hours.
- Strengthen the partnership between Ga. DOL, unions, and the Technical College System of Georgia to better identify training opportunities and create apprenticeships that lead to better jobs.
- Encourage entrepreneurship through programs that leverage unemployment benefits.
- Tackle systemic discrimination in Georgia’s job market.
